‘The Royal Academy of Dance offers an internationally recognised portfolio of examinations and assessments designed to encourage, motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, outlining a progressive structure for learning and achievement in dance.’
We offer the Pre-Primary- Grade 8 syllabus classes with optional annual examinations. The students can enter these classes at any time and will be individually assessed to ensure they are at the correct level.
These classes add a 2nd branch to ballet training. In the Graded classes the students progress through Barre work, Centre work, Free movement and Character work- the Vocational Classes cover a more technical approach and introduce the training of Pointe work. Students can move from Graded Examinations to Vocational Graded Examinations at an appropriate time; or they can study both pathways simultaneously.
Set in two levels , our juniors and seniors these classes develop Jazz and Lyrical dance technique, including preparation for turning, leaps and isolation movements. Students will work to improve flexibility and strength through conditioning exercises and will work on routines to demonstate steps learnt. We also run ISTD syllabus based Tap classes currently for our Junior students.
A magical class of movement and musical development aimed towards the bodily awareness and enjoyment of ballet movements through an early introduction.
A chance for parent/ carer to interact together with their baby and others within the class, where babies can discover the wonder of socialising with others as well as developing their own’fairy footsteps’.
Our already existing, very popular Pre-school ballet classes where children’s imaginations are encouraged through magical ballet stories and routines welcoming students to the world of Ballet.
Classes encourage children to be confident in their movement and musical abilities, trying their ‘pony gallops’ , ‘skips’ and other basic motor movements in pairs or individually across the room. The children learn basic ballet steps , but also life long principles and social skills which will serve them well as they approach the school age.
